Over $25, 000 Raised!

It has been 18 months since I started this blog back in February 2007, so I have been thinking that it is time to take a trip down memory lane and see what we have achieved together, through this humble blogspot.

I am both saddened and gladdened when I look back at the past entries, saddened at the memories of seeing the desperate cases that we have published on this blog, and gladdened when I see the names of our friends who have so kindly donated from their hard earned wages and savings.

So far on this blog, we have helped over 200 individuals, including around 50 urgent medical cases, which may not sound like such a big number, but if you count the friends and relatives who have gotten their loved ones back, the number of people helped runs into the hundreds.

Over US$20,000 has been raised for medical treatments and US$5,000 has been raised for services such as providing food to desperate families, blankets and sleeping mats to our school children and cycles to village girls (making their struggle to get to school a little bit easier).

On a personal level, reading my old posts, I can see how my outlook has changed. I started this blog because I wanted to share my feelings and observations as I struggled to deal with so many desperate and downtrodden people, but I get so caught up in trying to keep up with all the desperate cases I come across every day that there doesn't seem to be much to say, just more to do.

Thank you all for continuing to read and support this blog, seeing one desperate case after the other, and doing what you can to help. Even though I may have only spoken to some of you once or twice, I feel that you are all here with me in Vrindavan.

Thank you for your support,

Yours,
Rupa.
