Please Help Narayan, Paralysed after falling from the roof
At only 33 years of age, Narayan used to have a lot of responsibilities. He worked hard to support his wife and three children. But Narayan's life came crashing down ten months ago when he fell from the roof of his house. As a result of the fall, he broke his spine and suffered a spinal cord lesion. He broke his T10 (10th thoracic vertebrate), making him paralyzed from the waist down. Consequently he has no more control over the movement of his bowels and urinary tract.
Narayan was unable to afford proper treatment and stayed in bed all the time. Thus he has developed wide and deep bedsores on both sides of his thigh and at the small of his back. It is possible to clearly visualize the bones through the wounds.
He also has Pneumonia and a urinary infection due to permanent urinary drain.
The doctor says Narayan urgently needs nursing care, dressing regularly, changing position every 3 hours, respiratory exercises, physiotherapy, antibiotic therapy and a blood transfusion. He also requires a diet rich in proteins to gather strength and
maintain his body. He should stay in the hospital until the bed sores start to granulate (heal) and later have a nurse at home to change the dressing and his physical position.
If we can provide this for him, he will be able to move in a wheel chair and re-start his life. This will also enable his wife to go and earn a living to support him and their three children instead of staying home to nurse him.
The treatment should cost a maximum of US$2000.
Narayan is hardly 33 years old, for 10 months he was just laying in bed completely helpless. We have his three children in Sandipani Muni School. If we can help him he has a chance to survive.
