We have a long way to go.

In our Sandipani Muni School we do not allow any form of corporal punishment, here is what our sponsorship director wrote.

Her sponsored child (Shivani) left SMS, and is now studying in a local school.
Actually her parents pulled her out of school because they want her to
attend a school that uses corporal punishment to discipline children.

This is happening when India has just passed a law forbidding corporal punishment, but this is the poor illiterate parent's view of the world!
God help us!!
