Thank you

Thank you to Anonymous USA who has kindly donated $89 for Deepchandra's transport to Jaipur. He also needs a kind supporter for his medication, which, at $150 per month for 6 months is really too much for his poor family to afford.

URGENT, Help a man to walk again

Deepchandra is a 35 year old man who has been working as a construction labourer for the last 20 years. On the evening of the 28th November, when he was riding his bicycle home from work to his village, he was hit by a car.

He was knocked off his bike and landed unconscious in a gutter where he was found by some passers-by who pulled him out. The passers-by recognized him and called his father who took him to a local hospital where they discovered that he had fractured his spine in two places.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries, Deepchandra was transferred to a hospital in Agra. From here, he was ransferred to another hospital in Kosi and finally to a hospital in Jaipur (5 hours from Vrindavan).

In Jaipur, specialists operated on his spine. After the operation, he returned home, where he has been lying bedridden for several weeks. He has a small amount of movement in his hands but is completely paralysed from the waste down.

Deepchandra's family has so far spent Rs 1,03000 (US $2191) on his treatment. The family did not have this much money but gathered it with the help of family and friends and by taking loans.

They are now in debt and having to pay interest on their loans. Deepchandra's wife is a simple housewife who has never worked outside the house. They have 3 children: Pawan (9 years old), Naresh (5 years old) and Himmat (3 years old). The children do not attend school as the family is unable to pay school fees.

Bhola Ram (Deepchandra's father) is supporting his son's family to the best of his abilities. He works on a farm but is now 73 years old. Deepchandra's family and friends have no further money to help him and the Mayor of his village advised the family to come to Food for Life Vrindavan for assistance.

Deepchandra's medication costs Rs 7000 per month (US $150) per month and for him to have the best chance of making a full or partial recovery, he will need medication for 6 - 8 months. The Ambulance required to transport him to Jaipur costs Rs. 4000 (US $89) per trip. His next scheduled visit is on 26th December and he will need to return to Jaipur at least twice more.

We need to raise funds urgently to pay for Deepchandra's next conveyance by ambulance to Jaipur on 26th December (US$89) and for his medication for the coming month (US$150). Please assist us to raise this money to help Deepchandra.

Good news! We have received the first donation for Sangita so we are on the way to helping stop this little girl from being in pain every day of her life.
We have US$100 from an anonymous donor. Thank you!
After collecting another $411 we will be able to get her treated. Please do not make her wait too long.

Sangita

.
Sangita is two years old and has had this lump on her nose since she was born. Her parents are simple labourers who did not realize the severity of the condition, which is actually a growth on the brain. They also felt helpless to do anything about it because they knew that they have no money and no one will do the operation for free.

Sangita can be helped but she needs to go to a large hospital in Delhi where the delicate operation can be performed. Even with the biggest possible discount, in a Government hospital, to get the operation done the family needs Rs 23 000 (US$511) and money for travel costs to Delhi etc.

You can imagine the poverty of these people who have a child that they can see has been suffering for two years and they have not been able to find any means of getting the money to have her treated. Not only is she in pain, doctors say that the longer the condition is left without treatment, the worse it is for her prognosis.

Please give your kind support and contact me at rupa@fflvrindavan.org .

Thank you
